Before you pay anyone for immigration help, check that they are authorized.
In Canada, only authorized representatives can charge you for immigration advice or representation: RCICs, lawyers and paralegals who are members of a Canadian law society, and Québec notaries. Use the official registers below.
- College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) — Public Register (RCICs) — Status must be Active and Entitled to Practise: Yes.
- Law Society of Ontario — Lawyer and Paralegal Directory — Other provinces: use that province’s law society directory.
- Québec — Registre québécois des consultants en immigration (MIFI recognition) — Needed for paid help with Québec (MIFI) applications, in addition to a CICC licence.
- Barreau du Québec — Find a lawyer
- Chambre des notaires du Québec
- IRCC — Use an authorized immigration representative
